Jasmine was born on 10th March, 1962 in Boston, Massachusetts. She started her career from the television show named “Fame” as a non-speaking dancer in 1982. She was choreographed by Debbie Allen for that show. After some time she moved to California and there she played a role in the show “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” as Kayla in 1991. However today, Jasmine is best known for her performance in “A Different World”, the television sitcom, where she was Whitley Gilbert.

Jasmine has worked as a voice artist too. Her voice was used in Cyber Chase, a Television series. She started to perform in movies in 1988 with “School Daze”, which was a musical drama. In the year 2011 she has also acted in the movie “October Baby”. Jasmine has won six NAACP Image Awards consecutively for the category “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series” between 1990 and 1995. No other actress has won this award more than Jasmine Guy. In 1990, she released a self-titled album which was her debut in the music industry. In the US album chart, this album was on the 143th position.

In 1998, Jasmine married Terrence Duckett. They have a daughter who was born in the year 1999. The couple however filed for divorce after ten years of marriage. At present she and her daughter live in Atlanta.
