Marina Abramović is a New York based performance artist.
Marina Abramović started to do her artistic works in the early 1970s in her native land, Belgrade. In 1976, she moved to Amsterdam, and she met West German performance artist Uwe Laysiepen (also known as Ulay). When Abramović and Laysiepen began their collaboration, the main concepts they explored were the ego and artistic identity.
Abramović presented Seven Easy Pieces at Guggenheim Museum, New York City in 2005, in which performed on seven consecutive nights for seven hours she recreated the works of five artists showcased in the 60s and 70s.
