In urban fashion there are many trends and fads. For years baggy jeans were extremely popular. Since the 90s have past that style has all but faded. Even further back in the 80s bright colors were in style. You would see people wearing multi-colored striped hats and purple track jackets.
One aspect of urban fashion that has always been around and if things continue to go the same way, will always be around. That is of course expensive jewelry. Whether it is Mr. T with his heavy gold chain that looks thick enough to tow a boat with or lil john and his iced out grill. Rappers, hip-hop enthusiasts and the street wear crowd have always placed much emphasis on ice and bling. You’d be hard pressed to find a successful rapper that doesn’t have a few grand of jewelry on him at any given time.
What does change is the type of jewelry. In the 80s and early 90s gold chains was quite prominent. Silver had its phase. Then ice started to get big (diamonds and silver sometimes platinum).
Watches on the other hand did not have a phase. They come in and out. Always present, but a huge influence one generation and a simple accessory the next.
In the mid 2000s watch wearing was at a low. So in 2007 Flud came on the scene with the intention to “bring the watch back to its rightful place as one of the ultimate accessories.” Two and a half years later, flud is saleing like crazy and celebrities such as T.I. and Kanye West are wearing infamous, stylish watches.
Much older in the game is G-Shock watches. Everybody has them. More Celebrities than can be counted have wearn them. G Shock is part of the contribution that kept watches on the map for so long.
Thanks to these companies, people are starting to give the recognition to watches that they deserve again. In a year or so, the watch may be considered the most important accessory.
