Do you think you can get your laundry done in 4 minutes? I didn’t think so when I first saw a sign advertising the 4 Minute Wash, but I tried it and now I am a believer. What do you need to do to get your clothes cleaned so quickly? The answer is simple, find a local company that offers wash and fold service or even better, one that picks up and delivers.
How do I find a place that offers wash and fold service? Most laundromats and/ dry cleaning stores offers wash and fold service so if you do a Google search for laundromats and dry clearners in your city and state you will get a list of a few places to call. Here is a list of questions that you might want to ask when you call:
- Do you offer pick up and delivery? If so, you want to find out the hours they pick up and deliver. This way you can plan your schedule.
- How much do you charge per pound?
- Do they offer same-day service? This will let you know when your clothes will be ready for pick up or delivery. Most places say as long as they receive your clothes by 10:30am, they will have them ready for you the same day.
- What type of detergent do you use? If any of your family members have allergies, you will want know what laundry detergent they used. Typically they use some industrial strength laundry detergent. So if you want them to wash you clothes in the laundry detergent you supply, you can let them know.
Also, if you are going to have to drop your clothes off and pick them up yourselves make sure you pick a place that is convenient to you. For instance, if you pass by the launderer when running errands or on your way to work, those the locations I would pick so that you can save time and gas by not going out of your way. You may find other questions that are important to you, just be prepared to ask those questions. This is just to get started.
I recommend the 4 minute wash because I tried it. I don’t have a washing machine and dryer at home so I have a local laundromat that I frequent. Since I know they didn’t offer pick up and delivery, I packed my clothes in a big laundry bag as I normally do and put them in my car. I went early because I knew I wanted my clothes back the same day. They weighed my clothes on the scale in front of me so that I would know exactly how much it will cost to get my clothes done and told me when I could pick up my clothes which was later that same-day.
I also inquired about what laundry detergent they use and if they could hang my shirts and pants on hangers. They said they would. Let me tell you, when I picked my clothes up and took them home I felt so relieved because my laundry was done and all I had to do was put them away. It was same price to pay for clean laundry.
Don’t think of it as cheating your family. Moms do so much that any item that can be taken off your never-ending to-do list can reward you with much needed time to yourself or quality time to spend with your family. Let’s face it we as moms are managers innately of our family’s entire life. So what will you do with the 2 hours you save by having someone else do your laundry?
